The 4th Grade Journal
What’s new in 4th grade?
READING:
In reader’s workshop, we are studying how to be aware of and fix the mistakes we make while we read. A good reader should know which strategy will help them understand the text.
WRITING:
In writing we are composing personal narratives. Our narratives will have five paragraphs: introduction, beginning, middle, end, and conclusion. We will use sensory details and dialogue to make our narratives interesting.
MATH:
In math, we are studying geometry. We will describe and classify shapes based on their attributes.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Things to Work on at Home
Practice Makes Perfect!
Please practice multiplication facts and fluency with computation. Have your child figure out the change needed when you go to the store.
When your child reads at home, please have them write a summary and tell you the characters, events, problem, and solution of the story.
MUNROE COMMUNITY EVENT:
Please join us on September 22nd for a community event from 10am – 2pm. We will offer a variety of activities. We are excited for the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful community!
