Amanda Mares is a first grade teacher who has been teaching early elementary students in Denver since 2012. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Denver. She did her teacher preparation program as a member of Denver Teacher Residency Cohort 4. Ms. Mares is a proud Denverite. She has a passion for equity and justice, and seeks to build strong communities in her school and classroom. She is dedicated to the ideas of education as liberation, and joy in learning. You can find her trekking through the mountains, listening to live music, staring at colorful art, eating delicious food, or planning her next adventure when she’s outside of her classroom. She will be pursuing her 200 hour yoga teacher training starting in March 2025. She lives in Denver with her husband, David; daughter, Lilia; and dog, Leo.
