Role: Visual Art Teacher
Ms. Emily has been teaching Elementary Visual Art in DPS for three years and holds a BFA from Metropolitan State University. I am passionate about arts education that challenges students to critically engage in the creative process. Focusing on growth mindset and critical thinking shows students that art is not about drawing or painting skills, but practice, reflection and critical thinking. I strive to provide learning experiences that equip students with tools they can bring to all aspects of their life. I believe the art classroom can be a safe place where students can find their voice, and practice self-expression freely. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Emily enjoys painting, sculpting, crocheting, and hiking.
